Lord Dubs

Lord (Alf) Dubs arrived in the UK in June 1939 on a Kindertransport from Prague and says that he almost certainly owes his life to Nicky Winton. He was MP for Battersea from 1979-87, Home Affairs front bencher on race, immigration and asylum from 1983 to 1987 and was appointed Director of the Refugee Council from 1988-95. He was appointed a Labour working peer in 1994 and was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Northern Ireland Office from May 1997 to December 1999. He has two children.
